Founder Spotlight: Rushdhun Ramzy of True Ceylonese
Meet Rushdhun Ramzy
Cassia is the most common cinnamon sold in North America, while the species known as true cinnamon grows primarily in Sri Lanka. Rushdhun Ramzy has been selling the second one since 2021, and the True Ceylonese line now runs to teas, latte blends, and capsules made from Sri Lankan cinnamon, turmeric, moringa, and butterfly pea, plus a coconut milk and cream sold as a dairy alternative. Teaching people how traditional Sri Lankan ingredients have been used for generations is the part he says he enjoys.

How did this business start?
I founded True Ceylonese after the COVID-19 pandemic, when people began looking for natural ways to support their health. Inspired by Sri Lanka's centuries-old wellness traditions, I introduced authentic products like Ceylon cinnamon, turmeric, moringa, and coconut milk as healthier, natural alternatives.
What's one thing you're proudest of so far?
Turning a simple idea into a trusted brand that brings authentic Sri Lankan products to customers across the United States.
What's been the most surprising or challenging part of building this business?
The biggest challenge has been educating consumers about the quality and authenticity of Sri Lankan products. Building trust takes time, but seeing customers embrace these products makes it worthwhile.
What do you bring to this community, and what are you hoping to find?
I wanted to help Americans discover natural wellness through Sri Lanka's ancient herbal traditions. By bringing time-honored remedies and authentic ingredients to a wider audience, I hope to revive centuries-old wellness practices while connecting with people who value natural living and meaningful innovation.
What's something people would be surprised to learn about you?
I'm passionate about the stories behind every product. I enjoy teaching people how traditional Sri Lankan ingredients have been used for generations as part of everyday wellness.
Anything else you'd like to share?
My goal is to make True Ceylonese a global ambassador for authentic Sri Lankan products while creating opportunities for local farmers and manufacturers.
