In the vibrant landscape of plant-based dining in Los Angeles, a significant establishment, Nic's on Beverly, is set to conclude its operations on March 31. Founded by Nic Adler of Monty's Good Burger fame, the closure comes as a result of the profound challenges faced during the pandemic, marking the end of an era for this renowned eatery.

The tumultuous events of 2020, with mandated closures persisting, posed insurmountable hurdles for Nic's on Beverly. Like many other Los Angeles restaurants, it grappled with a total of 10 months of closures, oscillating between complete shutdowns for four months, three months of exclusive take-out services, and three months of outdoor dining only. These disruptions significantly hampered the restaurant's ability to sustain its operations.

Situated in the bustling neighborhood on Beverly Boulevard near Sweetzer, Nic's faced the additional burden of higher-than-average monthly rent. The financial strain intensified, prompting Nic's to pivot its business model. In an effort to mitigate revenue loss and maintain its workforce, the restaurant transitioned to selling burgers and wood-fired pizzas, deviating from its more eclectic menu offerings.

Despite these adaptive measures, Nic Adler, the visionary behind Nic's on Beverly, encountered challenges in negotiating with the landlord. Despite attempts to find a mutually beneficial arrangement, the landlord insisted on full payment, exacerbating the financial strain on the restaurant.

In response to these difficulties, Nic Adler embarked on new ventures. In December, he introduced Forever Pie, a 90s-themed pizza shop located on Melrose. Additionally, another establishment named Argento is slated to grace Silver Lake's culinary scene in the coming summer. Despite these exciting prospects, the closure of Nic's on Beverly remains a poignant moment for the community.

Adler took to Instagram to share a comprehensive explanation regarding the closure, expressing gratitude and nostalgia for the journey. The final day of service at Nic's on Beverly will coincide with Easter Brunch on March 31, symbolizing the end of an era for a beloved establishment in the heart of Los Angeles.

As Nic's on Beverly bids farewell, it serves as a testament to the resilience and challenges faced by businesses in the evolving landscape of the restaurant industry. The story of Nic's underscores the need for adaptability and strategic planning, even for well-established entities, in navigating unforeseen obstacles. While the chapter of Nic's on Beverly closes, Adler's ongoing ventures signal a continued commitment to culinary innovation and community engagement in the dynamic Los Angeles dining scene.
