NYC Vegan Bakery Le Petit Monstre Closes After 5 Years

Le Petit Monstre, the beloved vegan bakery in Brooklyn’s Clinton Hill neighborhood, has officially announced it will be closing its doors after more than five years in operation.

In a message shared on Instagram, the team described the decision not as an ending, but as “a closing of a chapter,” reflecting on the challenges of sustaining weekday traffic and the evolving needs of the business. Rather than a sudden shutdown, the closure marks a thoughtful pivot, with the founders shifting their focus toward their sister concept, Izzy Rose.

Le Petit Monstre built a loyal following for its imaginative, plant-based take on the traditional patisserie, becoming a staple in New York City’s vegan food scene. Its commitment to creativity, inclusivity, and community helped define a new era of modern vegan baking in the city.

The bakery’s final day of service was April 4. While Le Petit Monstre is coming to a close, the team shared that “there is magic to be made elsewhere,” hinting at new projects and a daytime café experience at Izzy Rose beginning later this month.

As one chapter ends, the legacy of Le Petit Monstre lives on through the impact it had on NYC’s growing plant-based community and whatever comes next for the team behind it.
