2013

What led you to where you are today?

I grew up with parents in the citrus industry, so I learned a lot about food and farming from an early age. With Ark Foods, I’m taking a lifelong love of the industry, but focusing on veggies that don’t typically get the spotlight. The moment I realized how innovative and versatile vegetables could be really solidified the Ark Foods journey for me.

What do you wish you knew before embarking on your entrepreneurial journey? 

I’m actually glad I knew very little about being a founder in the early days of Ark Foods. If I thought too much about what it meant to be a start-up, and in turn, lead a start-up, I would have been scared off by every little detail. In this case, ignorance has truly been bliss.

What is the most difficult decision you've had to make regarding your business so far? 

The decision to commit full time to the risk factor of starting this business. Back in 2013, I thought I could run Ark Foods and hold another job. I had to tune out that “Plan B” mentality and believe what I was building could stick. Ultimately, I knew that a normal day job would always be there, but the window of opportunity to build Ark Foods needed everything I could give it right then and there.

What can you help the VEGPRENEUR community with?

I can provide deeper insights and advice on the agricultural side of food, brainstorming product innovation, an extra eye on design and visuals for new products, and a good playlist, if anyone needs one!


and could support in helping find vegan and plant-based products that are truly eco friendly - we can spot a greenwash a mile away!

How can the VEGPRENEUR community help you? 

I’m looking forward to forming connections with other founders in the food space to further fuel innovation within our nook of the industry. Having a platform and sounding board to share new products will also be very valuable to Ark Foods. I studied jazz guitar in school before committing to a career in food and farming!
