Company Description:
Rebellyous Foods is an early-stage, plant-based food start-up.  As both a food production and manufacturing technology company, we are working to substantially increase the volume and lower the price of high-quality plant-based chicken products to effectively replace animal-based meat on a large scale. Rebellyous is headquartered in Tukwila Washington. Production of Rebellyous’ products takes place at comanufacturers located in Hobbs, New Mexico and in Stanwood, Washington.  Rebellyous’ novel manufacturing equipment is being deployed and commissioned in March at the facility in Stanwood, Washington. As this novel equipment comes on-line to produce Rebellyous’ products, we are seeking to supplement our engineering team with an intern on an hourly, part-time basis. 

Compensation:
This is an hourly part-time, temporary position during spring semester.  Rebellyous reserves the right to modify the start and end date of the project. The hourly rate range is $18-$22.

Key tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  • Research on engineering topics and reporting to manager on results

  • Talk with vendors and arrange getting quotes in a timely fashion

  • Organizing and planning projects, and drives with files

  • Assist with data processing as directed

  • Completing hand-on testing of manufacturing equipment

  • Technical writing and manuals and engineering website updates

  • Travel to/from other sites in Washington State for testing and training

  • On location at our headquarters in Tukwila, Washington as well as on location at our manufacturing site in Stanwood, Washington: 

  • Support Engineering team in a food processing manufacturing environment operating both alone and as a team through hands-on activities related to equipment setup and process validation.

  • Maintain an emphasis on safety - read alarms, recognize dangerous situations, and safely shut down the system when needed.

  • Assist experienced engineers with data collection and engineering analysis and participate in team discussions

  • Perform basic troubleshooting of mechanical, controls and instrumentation systems to ensure experiments are operating at their full potential

  • Prepare technical documentation or reports to assist with ongoing engineering projects

  • Assemble, disassemble, and sanitizing equipment

  • Opportunities to work with 3D or 2D CAD and data processing tools

Qualifications: 

This is a great opportunity for an entry-level to mid-level technical student in the field of mechanical engineering to gain hands-on experience with novel, first-of-a-kind manufacturing technology, process control analysis, and engineering analysis. Candidates should have the following credentials listed below for an internship. This is an internship level position, so pre-graduation applicants are encouraged to apply.  Note: Applicants looking for a full-time position post-graduation are encouraged to look at other positions offered by Rebellyous and not apply to this position. 

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old when they apply for the position. 

  • Applicants must be organized.

  • Coursework towards a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering, equipment engineering, manufacturing engineering, food engineering, food science or similar degree is required. 

  • Ability to use hand tools (screwdrivers, torque wrench, etc.) and characterization equipment (multimeter, etc.).

  • Good communication skills – written and verbal.

  • Demonstrated ability to carefully and accurately follow detailed written instructions (as in a scientific laboratory or kitchen).

  • Willing to apply creative solutions to solve workflow bottlenecks; seeking a focused, fast problem solver. 

  • Ability to obtain a WA state food worker card.

Expected Hours of Work: Ability to work during a range from 7 AM - 5PM. Flexible shifts available.  

Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods of time, stoop, kneel, and reach regularly. Ability to lift, push, pull up to 35 pounds. Reasonable accommodations can be made for those with disabilities.
