When did you launch the business?

2018

What led you to where you are today?

I have been allergic to milk, egg, nuts & shellfish my entire life. Growing up with so many dietary restrictions in rural Canada was a big challenge but fortunately the rise in veganism & plant-based eating has resulted in a multitude of amazing products becoming available. After realizing how popular dairy alternatives (milks, cheese, ice creams) were becoming, I decided to create my own plant-based alternative to eggs.

What do you wish you knew before embarking on your entrepreneurial journey?

You need to have thick skin to be an entrepreneur. People are going to doubt you, people are going to tear you down, people are going to make nasty comments on Facebook and people aren't going to believe in you. But none of those people are going to be able to do the amazing things that you are doing so stay strong and persevere.

What is the most difficult decision you've had to make regarding your business so far?

I'm actually currently going through the biggest challenge regarding my business so far. My social enterprise production partner is unfortunately closing their food production space so I am currently searching for a new facility. I have worked with this amazing organization since Eggcitables began. It's going to be a challenge to find a new manufacturer (especially with a social mandate) - but I'm determined to find one.

What can you help the VEGPRENEUR community with?

I currently mentor a number of young food entrepreneurs! If anyone needs guidance (where to locate funding, how to get started, navigating food regulations in Canada), I can certainly help!

How can the VEGPRENEUR community help you?

If anyone knows any co-packing facilities in Canada that offer services for dry goods - please feel free to connect me!

Fun fact about you:

I was born on February 29 so I am a Leap Year baby!
