Title of the Role: Warehouse Assistant

Short Description of Role: We are seeking a confident and skilled Warehouse Assistant with Forklift Experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have previous forklift experience (an active or expired Counter-Balance Forklift Licence is required as a minimum) and will be comfortable handling heavy goods and operating machinery safely. In this role, you will primarily support the movement of pallets and goods in our warehouse and kitchen spaces, as well as outside, while maintaining high safety standards. Planthood is a vegan meal kit subscription service, delivering UK wide. We offer customers a weekly changing menu of restaurant-quality meal kits, which take just 15 minutes to finish at home. Our goal is to make plant-based eating so delicious and effortless that it becomes a new way of life.

Compensation:

Starting at £13+ per hour, depending on experience..

Role Description:

Forklift Operation:

Operate a Counter-Balance Forklift (or other forklifts) to unload deliveries, transport goods, and move items around the site, including outdoor areas.
Use machinery safely and confidently, following all safety protocols.

Heavy Lifting & Moving Goods:

Assist with manual handling tasks, including lifting and moving heavy items, transporting pallets, and ensuring goods are stored or delivered to the right locations efficiently.
Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised warehouse environment.

Delivery Checks:

Verify deliveries, checking quantities and ensuring they match the delivery notes.
Report discrepancies or issues to managers promptly.

Support Operations:

Communicate with chefs and supervisors to ensure their needs are met, proactively identifying tasks to support kitchen and packing operations when required.
Step in to assist with other warehouse or kitchen tasks when forklift duties are not needed. This could vary day to day from portioning grains to using our food depositing/sealing machines.

Health & Safety Compliance:

Follow all health and safety guidelines, especially when handling heavy goods and operating forklifts or pallet stackers.

Qualifications:

Counter-Balance Forklift Licence (desirable).

Previous forklift experience is required (expired licences accepted with evidence of competency – We are happy to support renewal if proof of past certificate can be supplied).
Confidence in operating forklifts safely and efficiently, especially in outdoor areas or confined spaces.
Strong communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented approach to work.
Ability to lift and handle heavy items consistently throughout the day.
High attention to detail when checking deliveries or handling goods.
Experience in a warehouse or manual handling role is preferred.
Willingness to support other tasks as needed and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

Hours:

Full-time or part-time hours available (24-40 hours per week).

Shifts will vary between Monday and Saturday with consistent schedules provided where possible. Shift hours between 7am-8pm. We can be flexible for the right person.
