Nuoceans works with local communities to recover unrecyclable ocean plastics (mostly flip flops) and turn them into new fully recyclable pairs of sandals.

What led you to where you are today?
Resilience and a commitment to making a measurable difference in the world have been the two driving forces behind where we are. A commitment to each other and a strong belief in making the world a better place have kept us going in the face of many challenges. Finally, our passion for the ocean and marine life.
What do you wish you knew before embarking on your entrepreneurial journey?
How many times we would need to start again from scratch, how important it is to go meet people in person straight away to learn about a new industry and the cost of logistics.
What is the most difficult decision you've had to make regarding your business so far?
Drawing a line in sand for a make or break moment that would propel the business forward or end the project for good.
What can you help the VEGPRENEUR community with?
I can share my learnings as someone who comes from a very different background to business but has learnt the space from hands on experience. The importance of soft skills and people in your journey is vastly underestimated and it is essential to find the right people early and create relationships in order to succeed in your business.
