What led you to where you are today?

I stopped eating meat after I watched the movie Bambi (I was 3 years old, and my parents were not happy about my decision.) For nearly two decades I worked in investing in various capacities, but I always felt like how I spent my days wasn't aligned with my personal values. At some point, the need to work on something that matters became stronger than the desire to chase a fancy career (and my parents were again not happy about my decision.) My love for animals and my need to make an impact is what led me to start Alt Protein Partners.

What do you wish you knew before embarking on your entrepreneurial journey?

Not everyone will agree with you. Some people will criticize your decisions. That's ok - genuinely listen to other people's view points and find what you can learn from them, be kind and respectful as much as reasonably possible, and ultimately, trust your intuition.

What is the most difficult decision you've had to make regarding your business so far?

Deciding who and when to partner with: not every client is mission-aligned, but they still make a positive impact in areas that we care about. Ultimately we try to prioritize actual impact over personal values alignment, but sometimes that can be challenging.
