Meet Lori Levine:
Scott's Protein Balls is a healthy protein snack company that makes fridge-fresh plant-based protein balls that taste great, include allergen-friendly flavor, and are all dairy-free, gluten-free, soy-free, non-GMO, nutrient-dense, and made with superfood ingredients and no preservatives. Scott's Protein Balls is a proud partner of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), donating a portion of all sales to the cause that is very close to their Founder, breast cancer survivor, Lori Levine's heart.

When did you launch the business?
Soft launch in late 2020. Launched our online store in April 2021.
What led you to where you are today?
Our protein balls were created by my husband, Scott, during my breast cancer treatment in 2017 to show how his love for me and to create a healthy snack that would satisfy my sweet tooth. I didn’t realize at the time that many of my “go-to” protein bars were filled with unhealthy ingredients. We officially launched the company in 2020 and our mission is to bring great-tasting snacks that are also good for you to as many people as possible. Our balls are clean, gluten, dairy, and soy-free, and low-sugar. I take them with me wherever I go. I am an accidental entrepreneur because my journey led me to build this company.
What do you wish you knew before embarking on your entrepreneurial journey?
How difficult a CPG business is to grow! Especially if you have both a wholesale business and a direct-to-consumer business.
What is the most difficult decision you've had to make regarding your business so far?
Letting people go will always be the most difficult part of running a business for me. Even if they aren’t working out, it’s always a difficult discussion when you are impacting someone’s life in a negative way.
What can you help the VEGPRENEUR community with?
I love networking and meeting new people, especially when we have a connection on my breast cancer journey. I would love to connect with like-minded individuals, companies, and organizations who share our mission to bring healthy and delicious snacks into the world and support breast cancer research. I’m always happy to help a fellow founder if I have a connection that could be beneficial to them so don’t hesitate to reach out.

I have been known to get up on a stage whenever the opportunity presents itself and sing every word of the song Rapper’s Delight. I even got onstage once and sang it live with The Sugar Hill Gang!
