When did you launch the business?

November 2021

What led you to where you are today?

Soneha started as a personal side project when I couldn’t find dress shoes my cousin with down syndrome could wear independently. My cousin loves to dress independently but tying shoelaces has been challenging for him. I custom-made a velcro® dress shoe for him using cactus leather, and later turned it into a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign.

What do you wish you knew before embarking on your entrepreneurial journey?

I wish I had known the importance of taking a break to rest and recharge. Consistently overworking leads to quick burnout and to create something sustainable long-term, it is crucial to find a balance every day. I am still finding this balance for myself and working on slowing down and enjoying what I am building.

What is the most difficult decision you've had to make regarding your business so far?

When I did my crowdfunding campaign, I launched both standard US men's and women's shoe options. The difficult decision I had to make was to pause my efforts on men's shoes since my focus was getting divided and coordinating with different workshops was beginning to generate suboptimal results for both men's and women's shoes. I learned at the beginning that doing one thing really well is much better than doing multiple things.

What can you help the VEGPRENEUR community with?

I am happy to answer questions and share my experience with running a successful crowdfunding campaign.

How can the VEGPRENEUR community help you?

I would love to connect with more like-minded individuals and learn new ways to connect with the community at large.

Fun fact about you:

Apart from building Soneha, I work as a behavioral therapist for kids with disabilities.
