Short Description of Role:
The Sanctuary Experience Coordinator is an essential member of the Sanctuary Experience team who provides onsite operational support of the hospitality, tour, volunteer and event programs at Farm Sanctuary’s flagship New York sanctuary in the Finger Lakes region. Programming includes seasonal Bed & Breakfast, tours, events and volunteer engagement with our diverse audience.
This position includes a daily rotation of responsibilities: providing and leading tours to guests of the sanctuary, greeting guests upon arrival, and supporting the Sanctuary Shop and Bed & Breakfast program.
Responsibilities:

TOURS
Create an inclusive, safe, and inviting guest experience for visitors and members
Greet guests, proactively engaging with visitors, providing information, and way-finding
Conduct public, private and special VIP tours with provided script
Support Animal Care and Environment teams to maintain animal residents safety and comfort
Support safety between guests and animal residents
Respond to public inquiries via zendesk and telephone
Maintain Farm Sanctuary brand standards for sanctuary experience; create and support an operating environment that provides a positive and meaningful sanctuary experience for visitors
Work closely & collaboratively with the Animal Care team on tours; communicate tour schedules with Sanctuary staff


HOSPITALITY (BED & BREAKFAST)
Maintain Farm Sanctuary brand standards for guest experience; create and support an operating environment that assures guest satisfaction, and improves upon guest experience
Greet, welcome & check-in guests. Create & communicate a secure and clear after hours check-in process
Provide expert recommendations for local and regional attractions and activities.
Assist Sanctuary Experience with Bed and Breakfast Program, including regular breakfast set up, clean up, and housekeeping duties
Responsible for food and supply inventory
Conduct walkthroughs prior to guest check in, and after guest check out
● Inspect furniture, fixtures & equipment, vents, windows, & accommodation exteriors to ensure cleanliness & functionality
● Procure & place in-room VIP guest amenities and fulfill special requests
● Report maintenance & engineering issues to the Manager of Sanctuary Experience


VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT
Coordinate and confirm Volunteers for monthly support parties, visitor program & events
Communicate and respond to volunteer inquiries through Zendesk
Outreach to current and prospective volunteers


EVENTS
Assist with coordinating onsite setup and provide day-of support for community engagement, stewardship & cultivation event activities which support development, education, social justice, advocacy & other organizational goals.
Coordinate and confirm volunteers for local events
Represent Farm Sanctuary at events as brand ambassador


OTHER
Represent Farm Sanctuary at regional tabling events
Complete daily opening and closing procedures
Provide administrative assistance by running weekly and monthly reports
Support Sanctuary Shop retail operations
Assist with daily upkeep of the Sanctuary Center
Preferred Qualifications:
2-3 years customer service, guest-relations or hospitality experience preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills
Must enjoy guest experience work and possess the ability to be professional and gracious in high volume situations
Extensive knowledge of farmed animal and vegan and social justice issues
Commitment to Farm Sanctuary’s mission and pursuing a vegan lifestyle
Strong communication, public speaking, and outreach skills
Must be able to work independently, take initiative and exercise good judgment
Ability to easily communicate with various audiences
Strong prioritization and organizational skills, and attention to detail
Must be a team player and collaborate well with colleagues
Willingness and ability to perform physical labor, moderate lifting, and work in varying weather conditions
Comfortable around large farmed animals
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Must be dependable

Pay: $21.00/hour
Travel: Not required, but regional travel possible
