Short Description of Role: As the Senior Director of Institutional Giving, you will be responsible for three key areas: fundraising and relationship building, proposals and reports, and leadership and management. In this role, you will play a critical leadership role in advancing Farm Sanctuary’s strategic vision and building a culture of philanthropy both internally and externally.
Responsibilities:
Lead the Corporate, Foundation, and Government fundraising team to achieve annual fundraising goals
Develop and implement a multi-year institutional fundraising strategy in alignment with Farm Sanctuary’s strategic vision
Build and manage a robust portfolio of institutional funders with a focus on 6-figure+ gifts and comprehensive partnerships
Write compelling grants and foundation proposals and develop annual cultivation and retention strategies for each funder
Engage and facilitate the Board of Directors’ participation in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, acknowledging, and stewarding institutional funders
Manage both expense and revenue budgets for institutional fundraising proposals and reports
Mentor and up-skill other development staff to secure 6-figure grants and robust partnerships
Collaborate effectively with other members of the Development leadership team and co-create a team culture of continuous learning and improvement that creates the conditions for fundraising success
Coordinate with other leaders across Farm Sanctuary to ensure effective collaboration between teams
Contribute to strategy, planning, and execution of donor engagement and fundraising events
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven experience in leading and managing successful institutional fundraising teams with a track record of achieving annual fundraising goals, particularly in securing 6-figure+ gifts and comprehensive partnerships.
Strong knowledge of institutional fundraising best practices and strategies, including developing and implementing multi-year fundraising strategies, cultivating and retaining institutional funders, and designing and overseeing prospecting strategies for institutional giving.
Excellent grant writing and proposal development skills, with the ability to write compelling proposals and reports for both new and existing funders that align with the organization’s mission and strategic vision.
Experience in effectively collaborating with multiple stakeholders to align institutional giving and engagement strategy with the overall fundraising strategy.
Proven ability to build and maintain positive and productive relationships with institutional funders, Board of Directors, and other stakeholders, while also ensuring timely reporting requirements and grant agreements are met.
Strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to mentor and up-skill other Development staff, develop a collaborative team-based environment, and effectively community Farm Sanctuary’s vision and goals to the team.
Excellent database skills; experience with fundraising databases (e.g. Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, Convio Luminate Online)

Job Specifications:
Terms of employment: Regular, exempt, full-time position

Location: Remote in the United States
Pay: $110,000-125,000, commensurate with experience
Travel: National travel as needed to secure grants and partnerships (estimated 20% of the time)
