What led you to where you are today?
My journey to founding Rejuvenation was sparked by a severe allergic reaction to a synthetic energy supplement that left me on life support and in a coma. This life-changing experience drove me to use my background in plant science to create a safer, healthier alternative to traditional energy drinks. Motivated by my own recovery and the desire to offer better options to others, I developed Rejuvenation, focusing on natural, clean ingredients and sustainability.
What do you wish you knew before embarking on your entrepreneurial journey?
Before starting my entrepreneurial journey, I wish I had a deeper understanding of the importance of networking and building relationships within the industry. Knowing how vital these connections can be for mentorship, advice, and opportunities would have accelerated my early steps. Additionally, I wish I had a clearer picture of the resilience required to weather the ups and downs of business, including the emotional and financial toll it can take, which would have better prepared me for the challenges ahead.
What is the most difficult decision you've had to make regarding your business so far?
The most difficult decision I've had to make regarding my business was choosing to relocate from Laurel, Maryland, to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to take advantage of significant non-dilutive funding opportunities. This move was particularly challenging as it meant spending less time with my grandmother, who is not only my best friend but also a significant influence in my life. We used to spend every day together, and the decision to move was heartbreaking. However, she has been incredibly supportive, and knowing that she is happy to see the business thriving with our new warehouse in Tulsa has made the transition worthwhile. This tough decision was a crucial step in scaling Rejuvenation and ensuring its future success.
What can you help the VEGPRENEUR community with?
I can assist the VEGPRENEUR community by offering partnership opportunities with Rejuvenation’s new food service model. We are eager to collaborate with vegan and vegetarian restaurants that are interested in featuring Rejuvenation on tap or behind the bar as a cocktail or mocktail mixer. This partnership could enhance your beverage offerings with a healthy, plant-based option that caters directly to the preferences of your customers.
How can the VEGPRENEUR community help you?
The VEGPRENEUR community can greatly assist Rejuvenation by facilitating partnerships with vegan and vegetarian restaurants eager to include our drinks on tap or as cocktail and mocktail mixers. Additionally, introductions to fellow entrepreneurs and businesses within the community could lead to fruitful collaborations and shared growth opportunities, especially with those in the health and wellness sectors. We would also benefit from connections to potential investors or information about grant programs aimed at sustainable, plant-based businesses, supporting our fundraising efforts for travel to international pitching events and further expansion.
