The brand began with a simple question: What if steak could be made without animals? Founder and CEO Insa M. Mohr, who comes from a background in tech and strategy, set out to solve one of the toughest challenges in alt-protein, not burgers or crumbles, but true whole-cut meat. What started as a bold idea quickly evolved into a food-tech innovation, using a proprietary production method that forms muscle-like fibers to mimic real steak texture and bite.
With that mission in mind, Insa led the transformation of a former chicken plant in Baltimore into a fully plant-based manufacturing space, a symbolic shift from conventional meat to the future of protein. Under her leadership, Offbeast has introduced an array of products, including plant-based ribeyes, filets, and steak bites crafted for high protein, clean ingredients, and a satisfyingly authentic steak experience.
Today, Offbeast stands at the forefront of next-gen alternative meats, proving that steak can be delicious, realistic, and kinder to animals and the planet.
