Title of the Role: Analyst, Prospect Research
Short Description of Role: Summary: The Analyst, Prospect Research is responsible for identifying new individual and institutional funding prospects, as well as assessing capacity on existing Farm Sanctuary donors and constituents through external and internal data sources and financial analysis.
Responsibilities:
Integrates sources creatively in the process of evaluating donor prospects for capacity, inclination and readiness, and for recommending relationship development strategies based on these criteria.
Demonstrates mastery of creating prospect capacity rating methodology customized to organizational needs and resources.
Identifies connectors—people who can open doors and leverage relationships.
Demonstrates ability to summarize key findings and create actionable recommendations to appear prominently in profiles, prospect lists, and other research products.
Has mastery of prospect rating systems options, including how to build a new system that accurately records prospect capacity and inclination, how to utilize existing systems to effectively prioritize prospect pool, and how to incorporate external ratings appropriately in an internal rating system.
Recommends the development of policies and procedures around pipeline performance.
Proactively identifies prospects for Farm Sanctuary using all available sources such as electronic databases, wealth screening services, and online search tools.
Provides analysis of the gift capabilities of those within the constituent database.
Develops, undertakes, and maintains projects to record new or updated research and capacity information on prospective and current donors in the donor database.
Reviews information returned from wealth screening in a timely manner for major gift prospects and makes an initial assessment to evaluate giving capabilities, philanthropic interests, personal and professional associates, and relationship to Farm Sanctuary.
Develops supportive, collaborative and productive relationships with directors of philanthropy, leadership giving officers, and other staff involved in fundraising.
Actively participates in cultivation/solicitation planning with development staff members.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor degree or equivalent of four years’ experience is required. Candidates with training in fundraising/development are highly considered.
A minimum of two years of work in prospect research, or a closely related role.
Proven experience with Internet search strategies and is preferred to have experience using electronic databases and online search tools such as iWave, DonorSearch, WealthEngine, Target Analytics, RelSci, Wealth-X, etc.Experience with at least one advanced CRM tool (such as Banner, Raiser’s Edge, DonorPerfect, Salesforce, Advance) related to storing, manipulating, and retrieving data is highly desired.
Knowledge of Farm Sanctuary’s systems, data structures, and overall organizational landscape is a plus.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in writing clearly and concisely and expertise in report presentation.
Excellent problem-solver, able to balance multiple priorities simultaneously.
Ability to operate as a team member and build strong relationships, both internally and externally.Ability to develop and execute market-driven and innovative approaches to development in alignment with Farm Sanctuary’s requirements and decisions.

Pay: $50,000-60,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications
Travel: No travel required
