Title of the Role: Assistant Caregiver, Wellness

Short Description of Role:

Wellness Assistant Caregivers are part of a team of animal care workers, with a focus on health care assistance, animal feeding, enrichment, and wellbeing. Responsibilities also include barn and water cleaning, animal transports, and various shelter projects. Wellness Assistant Caregivers must be able to complete all tasks within those responsibilities with the ability to expand into the other areas depending on interest and experience. Assistant Caregivers should have a strong desire and ability to do hands-on shelter work and a personal commitment to rescuing and protecting farm animals. Assistant Caregivers are vital team members of our shelters, where providing quality animal care is the number-one priority.
Responsibilities:

Animal feeding and maintaining animal-feeding schedules
Animal watering and maintaining animal-watering schedules
Shelter cleaning projects as assigned
Assisting with animal health care and health checks

Qualifications:
Good animal-behavior observation skills
Able to work in all weather conditions
Able to perform strenuous physical labor and lifting
Must be able to follow detailed instructions and maintain animal-care schedules as assigned
Ability to work well with a variety of people
Team player
Very reliable and dependable
Commitment to Farm Sanctuary’s animal-care policies
Commitment to Farm Sanctuary’s organizational programs and goals
One year experience at animal-care facility preferred and/or animal-advocacy volunteer history
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required

Familiarity, commitment to, and experience with the practice of equity and social justice, and the principles embedded in Farm Sanctuary’s mission

Specifications:

Terms of employment: Full-time, non-exempt position
Reports to: Assistant Manager, Wellness
Direct reports: None
Location: Acton, CA
Pay: Starting wage is $17.50 per hour
Travel: Occasional travel may be required to assist with transport for animal adoptions or rescues
