When did you launch the business?

2019

What led you to where you are today?

My journey with Hella Phat Vegan began when I discovered a significant gap in the market: there weren't enough healthy, plant-based alternatives to traditional bouillons that truly captured the rich flavors of the animal products they were meant to mimic. This realization sparked my mission to create not just a vegan alternative, but a superior choice that would satisfy the cravings of both vegans and non-vegans alike, without compromising on health or flavor.

What do you wish you knew before embarking on your entrepreneurial journey?

Before embarking on my entrepreneurial journey with Hella Phat Vegan, I wish I had fully grasped the critical importance of fundraising and securing sufficient capital. Understanding early on that having the right financial backing is crucial for growth and scaling could have accelerated our path to success and helped us navigate the challenges of expanding a business in the competitive food industry. This knowledge would have been invaluable in shaping my initial strategies and decisions.

What is the most difficult decision you've had to make regarding your business so far?

The most difficult decision I've faced in my journey with Hella Phat Vegan was choosing to self-fund the business initially and to persist despite the stark challenges posed by limited capital. This decision involved a deep commitment and belief in the potential of our vegan seasonings, balanced against the financial risks and hurdles of maintaining and growing a business without external funding. It was a period of significant personal and professional growth, teaching me the value of resilience and strategic thinking in the entrepreneurial world.
